Fig.3: Another axis with some leaves is seen here emerging from
the depth of the sample. As indicated by the
cross section below right, the leaves soon turn into a direction nearly perpendicular
to the axis. The small
hump (below left) seems to be a leaf base, judging from the thin black conducting
strand being still close
to the main axis. Probably the cut plane incidentally crosses a node. coll.
